A Georgia man has been paying child support since 1986. In 2000, a DNA test showed that the child was not his, but he was ordered to continue payments to total $16,000.
The man was arrested and jailed for 13 months after losing his job and being unable to make payments. Recently, however, the Office of Child Support Services released him from his debt, still $10,000, because the conditions were unfair to him.
