The Orlando divorce lawyers of Schlegel Law Group are excited to announce Universal Orlando’s Holiday events with “Grinchmas” at Islands of Adventure theme park.

Created after Dr. Seuss’s children’s book, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” the park has exciting shows and events including “Grinchmas WholidaySpectacular” featuring The Grinch and the Whos from Whoville.

The Macy’s Holiday Parade is recreated nightly in Universal Studios Orlando theme park with the same holiday characters, floats, and gigantic balloons featured in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York City.

The famous a cappella group, Mannheim Steamroller, perform six times during the holiday season on the Music Plaza stage at Universal Studios Orlando. Performance dates are Dec 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, and 18.

National Adoption Month

This Saturday, November 20th is National Adoption Day. Courts across the country will focus their efforts on finalizing adoptions for an estimated 4,500 children in foster care. Since 1999, more than 30,000 children have been legally adopted on National Adoption Day.

The month of November is also recognized as National Adoption Month. On the first of the month, the U.S. State Department held a ceremony to kick off the month and bring attention to the children in the United States and abroad waiting to be adopted. ”During this month, the U.S. government calls attention to the thousands of children in foster care in the United States and the millions of children around the world who are in need of a loving and permanent family,” stated an official from the State Department.

Of the 463,000 children in the U.S. foster care system, 114,000 are waiting to be adopted.

Florida repeals ban on gay parents adoption

On Friday, Floria Attorney General Bill McCollum officially repealed the only remaining ban on gay couples adopting children in the country. The law was created 33 years ago and while gay and lesbian couples in Florida were previously able to be foster parents to children, until Friday they were not able to legally adopt a child. Two days after the decision, the Florida Department of Children & Families had the section asking applicants about their sexual orientation removed from forms.

The law was challenged after a Miami couple who have been foster parents of two brothers, now 10-years old and 6-years old, wanted to legally adopt the two. In reference to the decision, one American Civil Liberties Union of Florida attorney stated, “This victory means that the thousands of children in Florida who are waiting to be adopted will no longer be needlessly be deprived of willing and able parents who can give them love and support of a family”.

U.S. Families Adopt Haitian Orphans

More than 800 orphans who were in the process of being adopted, have come to America after the disaster.

Many of the adoptions were expedited after the terrible tragedy in Haiti. One family has been in the middle of a three year adoption process. They finally have picked up their 3-year-old little girl on Saturday. Processing took 17 hours to complete, but they are now very happy to have their daughter.
